You aren't sick of Molly yet, are you?

On Friday, Molly had a 6.5 hr stretch at home by herself while we worked. And she did great. That's pretty much the longest stretch she'll have to go alone and on the 4th day of having her, she seems to have it mastered. She continues to amaze us with her sweet nature and general good behavior. We've been working on her walking nicely and she's improved tremendously. The night we adopted her she was pulling me down the hallway at the shelter. She's doesn't have it mastered yet, but she is now walking at our side. A 70 lb dog pulling us on a 2 mile walk isn't my idea of fun. But a 70 lb dog walking (mostly) good is great fun. We live near a large open space that has a kids playground, baseball fields, grass that is maintained, field area that is left in it's wild state, etc. So, after walking well she gets to go off an sniff in some great stuff. Other dogs track through there, the neighborhood cats, and a variety of birds (to Dave's delight we've seen geese, an egret, sea gulls, and a variety of your normal sized birds). She is interested in cats and other dogs, but the birds don't hold any allure.

These pictures are from her morning walk today. Dave's got the morning walk and I'm on the afternoon walk. Unfortunately for me Molly is a once a day pooper and the evening walk is the time for business. Lucky me.

Today has also been a good other dog day. Molly has been very excitable with other dogs around and had done some jumping, etc. Each day has gotten better when we see other dogs and I'm sure it is partly learning that we are her people and have her back with other dogs around. We passed 2 dogs on her walk today and she was much better. Then after dropping Dave off at work, Molly and I went to a doggie store called Wags! We haven't had a reason to go in before, but it seemed like the type of place that would be helpful and we needed to either adjust the fit of her harness or get a new one. The very helpful women got Molly in a slightly bigger harness. While we were there a little puff of a dog that was mostly fluffy fur came in. Seriously, this dog makes Teca look big. This is the first dog that Molly got to meet nose to nose. I give the little dog credit for having confidence. She walked straight up to Molly. They even started playing. I got a bit concerned when Molly made a pounce towards the little dog (like she does with her toys) because I didn't want her to think it was a toy (since it is about the same size as her toys)! From there we went to Pet Smart and she walked pass a few other dogs and met another one. Lastly, we went back to the shelter she came from. Having been dropped off there 2 times in the past month or so I didn't want her to be nervous around the place. They have a small retail section, so we went in and she said hi to 2 of the workers that helped us when we got her. I bought some treats and we were on our way. She was fine the whole time we were there - so I don't think shopping there will create any concern for her. Between the 2 mile walk and all of the shopping fun she is now racked out on the office floor.

I think you should frame the first picture in this post. She is beautiful. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Nice Molly update! Sounds like a very exciting day in dogville.

I agree with Retired Mama - that's a great picture.
