M Pie, Good!

There's one more 4th of July story... One of Sara's coworkers told her that there is a road to Corvallis that leads through the town of Peoria. And in Peoria, she related in hushed tones, there is a fabulous Mennonite bakery. Since I-95 is just boring as all get out, we decided to take this new route. And hey, if the road less traveled winds past a bakery, then that would make all the difference! Anyway, we found the Mennonite bakery, which turned out to be someone's home. They open up their front room and kitchen to operate as a bakery, but only on Fridays and Saturdays. It was crowded inside--a good sign! Although, that crowdedness did have something to do with the lack of space. As we entered, the homeowner came up to me, pushed me in the chest and growled, "Be gone with you, boy. Lest ye want to fight!" No, I'm just kidding. that didn't happen. The folk were quite nice and, apparently, Mennonites are pacifists. And good bakers! We bought a small marionberry pie and a loaf of cinnamon swirl bread. The bread was soft and very yummy. We have most of the loaf still in the freezer and plan to make lots more delicious toast with it. The marionberry pie was also yummy. However, it was too sweet for Sara's liking and nearly too sweet for mine, if you can believe it. I thought it was a very nice treat. They sold other kinds of pie. But, I don't recall if the others were marked by the "M". Does it stand for Marionberry or for Mennonite??? We'll have to return to the bakery to find out!

Oh btw, here's a picture of our view at the olympic trials. It was lots of fun!

I'm the biggest fan of marionberries and I didn't even know of them until my first trip to Oregon. Love them!!! Also a great picture of the trials. And the first game goes to the Mets.

I have to remember not to drink a beverage whilst reading your blog, lest I pee my pants!

Glad the Mennonites AND their baked goods were nice.

Maybe the M is just for MMMMM

My question is when did the pirates invade the Mennonites?

Or the bigger question maybe should be why is he the way he is?

The Mets are now playing their best ball of the year. just in time for the Giants. I don't really think it will last though.
