Volunteering for Barack Obama

Today we did some canvassing for the Campaign for Change here in Eugene. It was really pretty easy. The campaign provided a list of names/addresses of people who are either registered democrats or who said that they are "leaning Obama" in a phone call. Since voting here in Oregon happens by mail, we just went around asking people if they had already voted, asked them to please do so if they hadn't, answered any questions that they had, and then coded everything on our data sheet. Those who already voted will come off of the next batch of lists. Therefore, in the last 2 days of the election the lists will be even more focused. People here are great. Very friendly and most are very excited and motivated by this election.

After canvassing, we headed back to the campaign office. There was a reception there for Volunteers and Howard Dean was there to give us a little pep talk. It was great to see him. I liked Howard Dean 4 years ago and his "50 State Strategy" as Chairman of the Democratic Party has really paid dividends in this election.

Everyone Please Vote!!

That really is great to both see Howard Dean and be part of the canvasing team. I am so excited. Nervous, I admit, but very excited for Election Day results.

I voted this morning at 9:30 and I was #66. The lady at the counter said the last election only had about that number for the entire day.
Exciting day!!!
