Hello from Oregon! We hope to use this space to stay a little closer to all our family and friends. It's a little experiment... kinda like everything else...

9 waterfalls in an 8 mile hike
Today we finally got to a long awaited adventure. Silver Falls State Park located outside of Salem has a 8 mile loop that passes 10 waterfalls. Dave had read about it right after we got to OR, but somehow we've just not been able to motivate. Today we did. We were probably a few weeks past peak as far as the maple leaves go, but it seems like there isn't a bad time to see waterfalls. The trails actually go behind 3 of the waterfalls, which is a different perspective on everything! Come out and join us anytime!
At one point the trail splits. It's about a 1 mile section. We chose to forgo 1 of the waterfalls so that we could go along the split that is called the Maple Trail. We wanted to see the pretty leaves. So, we slacked on the waterfall.
It was about 1.5 hrs to the trail head. You drive to the southern part of Salem and then it is about 20 miles east. Unfortunately, on the drive there some moron tried to drive into us! We were on the road and this @#$#@ was coming out of a driveway. The driveway was not straight ... at first it looked like we were just going to have to go wide, but then they just kept coming! I had to really swerve and so did the car behind us. All was well and as you saw, the day was beautiful.
Between us, we've lived in:
California, Massachusetts, Florida, Maryland, DC, New Jersey, New York, and now Oregon. We believe Life is an adventure and we are enjoying the ride.

OK, now you're just showing off. Damn beautiful!
How come you only saw 9 if there are 10? Still, 90% is pretty good...
It is gorgeous! How far of a drive was it?
