Escape, er Back from NY

We are now back in Oregon after spending 10 days in NY/NJ. It was a whirlwind trip to be sure. It was great to spend time with family, most of whom we had not seen in over a year and a half. Though, I wish we had some more time to spend with friends also. We love all of our family and friends so much!! Now we just need to win the lottery, so that we can spend more time with every one!

The highlight of the trip was my cousin's wedding. It was a beautiful ceremony. One that made us (and just about everyone) cry. My cousin's wife has a son, age 11, from a previous marriage. The boy was included in the wedding ceremony and he formally recognized the creation of a new family and accepted a new father. It was very touching! The reception was great too and, of course, the boy gave a speech and made us cry again!! Below is a picture that might give you an idea of the Latin music, dancing, and lots of fun that we all had.

My last game at Shea Stadium before they tear the old dive down!! We had a group of 16 at the game!! That's the new stadium, CitiField, that is being built behind the outfield wall. The Mets will begin playing there next season.

Another view of CitiField. I've been impressed with how fast this thing is being built. Unfortunately, there is still mostly a hole in the ground at the World Trade Center site. But, that's a different story...

Since we have a quota to keep of garden and dog photos on this blog, here is a picture of my parent's new dog, Barney Jr.

While it was a great trip, I must say that we are very, very happy to be back home in Oregon. We very much enjoy our quiet life here. Less stress, less humidity, fewer crowds, a garden that survived our absence... life is good!

Hey, is that one of those famous Ecuadorian dogs?

Sounds like a great trip - glad you're back safe & sound.

Turns out that it is just a Jersey Mall-Dog! Not a well know breed!
