From the coast, to the desert ... via the snow

Oregon is an amazing place. We can see and do lots within a very short drive ... and there are never crowds. Yesterday we went to the coast with Retired Mama. It's an hour-ish drive. We wandered around Florence's downtown shops and then headed to the Heceta Head beach. We've been there many times before, but never at low tide ... which revealed tide pools

and lots of star fish!

We also went to the top of Cape Perpetua to see great views from high up on the coastal cliffs.

Today we headed to Bend, which is considered a high desert. To get there you have to travel through the Cascade Mountains. There's been a cold front here, so the snow line is about 3,000 ft and the pass is at 4,800. We were able to see lots of snow and even throw a few snowballs. Sisters and Bend are towns just on the other side of the mountains, but because of their locations they are desert-y. (These 3 mountains are known as the 3 Sisters). A lot of different things to see in a short period of time.

Also, it turns out Retired Mama takes the best pictures we have had of us! We've hired her as our personal photographer!

Tomorrow we are going to get our first ever Christmas tree ... there will be another blog and pictures I'm sure!

More nice photos. You live in a pretty state. I'm worried about the short-haired lady who seems to be stalking you...
