The 4th of July is not a friend of Molly's! There have been fireworks going off around our house for the week before the 4th and Molly hasn't enjoyed them! She doesn't hide or seem scared - more like she's sorta pissed at the noise and wants to protect us from them. So, we knew that Saturday was going to be tough for Molly and had a plan. The plan worked well for about 1 hour. Unfortunately, there were roughly 4-5 hours of fireworks. Oh well, at least we kept her calm and fairly okay for part of the madness!
Below is a short video of Molly being thoroughly occupied by her Kong. It's a rubber toy that you can fill up with food and then your doggie has to "work" to eat. We use a mixture of plain yogurt and peanut butter and then freeze it. It's like a pooch popsicle and she loves it.
Just a warning: we had the music on pretty loud to try to muffle the firework sounds. There's also Molly's slurping to deal with. You may want to turn your volume down. But, it is pretty funny to see the focus that she has!

That's a silly dog! But the slurping dog sounds and outrageously loud music are almost as annoying as barking at the fireworks!
