Beast of burden

Since we have started hiking with Molly we've been interested in getting a pack for her to carry her own water, etc. We guessed that she'd like this because she likes doing simple chores ... getting the mail, taking out the garbage cans with us, mowing the lawn (I'll admit the neighbors think I'm insane when they see Molly walking up and down the lawn with me). Last week we went the doggie store, but they didn't have the size or brand we had been looking at. We put a different brand on her to see if she balked at it or not. She seemed to be happy with it on and had a waggy tail as she walked around the store with it. Then on Sat. I was taking her dog blanket from the car out of the dryer and just tossed it onto her back like a saddle blanket. I figured she would squirm right out from it. But she just stood there with it on ... then she walked off with it on and showed herself off to Dave. So, when the pack that we ordered arrived today we figured there was a solid chance that she'd enjoy wearing it. We were right! As soon as we got it fitted with the nice worker at the store Molly's tail was waggy and she was so happy. We headed out of the store to the hike in town we have been taking her on. We didn't go to the top of the butte because we wanted to give her some time to get used to the pack and everything. But, she carried up 2 bottles of water and had a great time! Here's some pics to show it off:

You'll have her taking GPS readings and plotting courses next! Nice gear.

It will be important to teach her those skills if she is going to hike alone with Davey ... he's sometimes challenged with a map!

I am a little directionally challenged, I admit it.

Hey KSF, thanks for the comment! She's a sweet pooch, for sure. We've been thinking about you. Hope you are feeling well and doing great! Hope to talk to you soon!

I think you should find an old plow yoke and rig it up to Molly and your push mower and have her tow it behind her to mow the lawn (like an ox with a plow only, you know, different). That'd shut your neighbors up!

Or that would really get them talking!
